The Gentle Leader dog leash can be converted into a regular collar for added flexibility.
This leash was designed by a senior veterinary surgeon and former president of the National Association of Canine Trainers in the USA. The leash allows owners to prevent dogs or puppies from pulling them and makes training basic commands like sit, stay still, and come quick and easy due to its effect on the dog's thinking, relaxation, and behavior.

• Most dogs, regardless of size, do not respond to a standard collar and leash and resist pressure by pulling their owners in the opposite direction. This leash is unique and works on three points:
• The pressure shifts to the back of the neck, which naturally stimulates relaxation (a feeling similar to what a puppy feels when its mother holds it by the neck).
• Gentle pressure around the nose and jaw does not prevent the dog from opening its mouth.
• It works like a halter on a horse; where the nose goes, the body will follow.

How to attach it to the dog

1. Attach your dog's leash to the control ring.
2. Release the loop on the necktie and secure it at each end.
3. Place the neckband around your dog’s neck so that it touches the base of the dog’s skull at the back and is aligned over the Adam’s apple at the front.
4. You should be able to squeeze one finger under the collar. This will feel more comfortable than a regular collar, but the dog will still be comfortable.
5. Release the ring and remove the collar from the dog.
6. Open the adjustable sliding clamp and move it downwards towards the control ring where the handlebar is attached.
7. Pull the nose ring upwards through the central double D ring, which is located in the central part of the "T" shape.
8. Hold the neckband in your hands and slide the nose loop you just created onto the dog's nose. Then, connect the two ends of the neckband around the dog's neck.
9. Move the adjustable sliding clamp upwards so that it is below the dog's jaw.
10. The nose ring should now be in front of your dog’s eyes but behind the corners of his mouth, and loose enough to be pulled forward to the beginning of the fleshy part of his nose.
11. Make a final adjustment to the nose ring and then close the adjustable sliding clip.
12. Once installed in this way, it will not be necessary to reopen the adjustable sliding clip, unless the dog is still growing.
